I have a confession…
I really only make socks from one pattern. It is actually derived from the pattern I learned how to knit socks with 13 years ago. And being a sock yarn dyer, I have tried and studied so many patterns, but
I keep coming back to this one pattern.
Well…I say I come back to the pattern (“formula” would be a much better word), when actually I have this sock formula memorized. I love it because it is the absolute best pattern for working with hand dyed and hand spun yarns. It is simple enough to really let my favorite yarns shine. I have made a video giving you a tour through my sock drawer… funny how that would only be exciting to us knitters…am I right?
I decided to revamp my free download and reoffer it to you along side a pretty cool knit-a-long I am calling the UrbanGypZ Sock Art Society. So like all my other e courses and anti-patens, I am all about helping you find your creative mojo with your knitting. In this group we will focus on creating awesome socks. It is written with right brained knitters in mind. So get the download!
Hey, just wanted to let you know that when I clicked the link to get the pattern I couldn’t get the download box to work. It said enter email and get download, but there was no place to enter my email. I’ll try again on a different browser. I’m using a computer with Windows 7 and Google Chrome as my browser.
ACK!!! off to check it… try this link https://urbangypz.com///best-sock-pattern-ever
Hi! The pattern looks really good, but I am wondering if you know of a crochet version of this. I don’t really knit all that well, but I can crochet & am just getting into making socks. Thanks for sharing this. 🙂
Hi Michelle, I do not know of a crochet sock pattern off the top of my head. But there is a woman in my Stitch and Bitch who has crocheted some awesome socks. I will check in with her and post a link here, on FB and in the newsletter.
Just to let you know that the link is not working for Firefox, went over to Explorer and it did work.
Thanks for the cute video and looking forward to the instructions. Have been knitting toe up socks so am interested in your method.
Hi Sebette! Thanks for the heads up about the issue. It looks like some people are having random browser conflicts which is NOT good! eek! Glad you are on board with the Sock Art Society.
I have been reading your blog, but this is the first time I watched a video if yours.I love knitting socks, have at least two patterns committed to memory, taught myself how to do toe-up, can adapt any sock pattern, and use dpns, two circs, and magic loop! So,when I saw the “only sock pattern you’ll ever need”,I had to get in on the action, lol! I successfully entered my email and joined the society, too.I am looking forward to working on socks using yarns that are unique.btw, got to tell you sounded exactly like I thought you would on the video–down to earth in the best artsy sort of way….
Yay!! glad you are in the sock society. I am excited to bring more videos into the mix. I certainly have fun making them despite being a bit uncomfortable in from of the camera.
Is there an iPad friendly version?
You should be able to open it in iBooks.
