Do you wonder what  are the best yarns for Art Weaving? Most of you guys have followed my evolution from knitter with a yarn biz, to fiber art weaver. And like me, many of you came into weaving with a stash of knitting and crochet yarn to use with your new looms. But what if you were building a weaving stash from scratch? Where do you start? What kind of yarn do you get for freeform art weaving? Where does one find the colors and textures good for art weaving?

Art weaving is ALL about the yarn. In this video, I share with you my top 5 must-have yarns for art weaving.

Here are the show notes on finding Yarn for Art Weaving:

All of the links mentioned in this post are my personal recommendations, I am not a paid sponsor, nor do I get any commission from any of these companies.

Ravelry is the website where knitters and crocheters(and even some weavers) share information and ideas. You may have to register for a free account. But no worries they doe not spam you and the resources are VAST.

Links on Etsy to where I would look for handspun art yarn and hand dyed sock yarn

The Scrap Exchange in Durham, NC has some great alternative yarns finds

MoonRover, SpinCycle, Debra Lambert (of Picasso Moon), and Hedgehog Fibers are all indie dyers/hand spinners that I mentioned.

Here are my favorite cone yarn resources:

Halcyon Yarn

Webs

Old Mill Yarn

Earth Guild

Here is a really good weaving resource shared with me by Mrs. Miller’s girl Scout troop who found it while working on their textile arts badge. (thank you, Anna!)
